In 2018, the City of Barberton procured a recreational vehicle that directly delivers government and social services to low and moderate-income neighborhoods, helping to foster better connections between residents and the local government.
The Mobile Community Access & Response Center was funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a HUD initiative, Summit County Public Health, and the Barberton Community Foundation.
The giant purple RV has been utilized for a variety of community events:
- Magic Mayhem
- Holiday donation drives
- Sanitizer and disinfectant distribution
- Victim Assistance program
- Community-wide non-perishable and toiletries collection drives
- Food donation delivery to Barberton residents
- Free health screenings to seniors
- and more!
Any non-profit, government or public agency/organization may apply to use the Mobile Community Access and Response Center within a low-to-moderate income census block in the City of Barberton. For more information, or to apply to use the RV, contact the City of Barberton Mayor’s Office at 330-848-6719.
