National Manufacturing Day is recognized every year on the first Friday in October, with events that continue throughout the month. The goal of these events and celebrations are to inspire the next generation to start careers in manufacturing!
The City of Barberton is honored to be home to many local manufacturing businesses that are making a positive impact in our community and strengthening our workforce. Our local schools also give students opportunities to participate in career tech programs that help them build skills and become great candidates for careers in manufacturing.
On October 26th, Barberton’s Mayor Judge hosted a meeting with Ohio State Rep. Lydia Mihalik and invited all local manufacturing businesses. Mayor Judge welcomed ideas for improvements and discussed funding available to businesses. Director of the Department of Development for the State of Ohio Lydia Mihalik also attended the monthly MAPSS meeting and toured Barberton School District. She met with the Four Cities Compact Director, Roger Wright, Superintendent Jeffrey Ramnytz, Principal Henry Muren, and Vice Principal Jason Ondrus to tour Barberton High School and learn more about what the Four Cities Compact currently offers students, and how they want to serve the community in the future. Thank you State Rep. Lydia Mihalik for visiting Barberton and learning more about our manufacturing businesses and programs!
